TRAINING REPORT

ISDP, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and with support from the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF), successfully conducted a five-day Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC) training in Bossaso District from 4th to 8th February 2026. The training brought together 15 frontline health workers, including midwives and nurses, to strengthen their skills in managing obstetric and newborn emergencies in line with Somali BEmONC Guidelines, EPHS, and WHO standards. Through practical demonstrations and clinical simulations, participants enhanced their knowledge in antenatal care, labor management, postpartum hemorrhage, eclampsia, sepsis, newborn resuscitation, and Kangaroo Mother Care boosting confidence, teamwork, and adherence to national standards to improve maternal and neonatal care services in Bossaso.
