ISDP, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health with support from the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF), successfully conducted a five-day training on the inpatient management of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) in Bosaso from 3rd to 7th February 2026. The training strengthened the capacity of 15 health facility and Bosaso Stabilization Center staff to effectively implement IMAM protocols in line with national guidelines, improving the quality of nutrition services and supporting child survival and development efforts.
Before the training started, a pre-test was conducted for the participants to assess their initial understand and set a benchmark for measuring their knowledge on the inpatient case management topics, and the last day of the training a post-test was conducted to evaluate the knowledge gained by the participants on the training topics covered during the 5 days in the class. The results indicated a significant improvement in understanding, as shown by the comparison of pre-and post-test scores. The graph below demonstrates a measurable increase in participants’ knowledge, indicating that the training effectively strengthened their capacity in the inpatient management of severe acute malnutrition.
