Governance, Development and Peace Building
ISDP’s Governance, Development and Peacebuilding Department works to promote accountable governance, inclusive development, and peaceful coexistence within communities across Somalia. The program focuses on strengthening local institutions, supporting community participation, and fostering dialogue to address the root causes of conflict and instability.
ISDP collaborates with community leaders, local authorities, and civil society to enhance transparency, build trust, and promote inclusive decision-making processes. Through capacity building, community engagement, and peacebuilding initiatives, the department contributes to sustainable development and social cohesion.
Objectives
- Strengthen Local Governance Systems
ISDP supports local authorities and community structures to improve transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery through capacity building and institutional support.
- Promote Inclusive Development
The department works to ensure that development initiatives are inclusive, participatory, and responsive to the needs of all community members, particularly marginalized groups.
- Foster Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion
ISDP promotes peaceful coexistence by facilitating community dialogues, conflict resolution initiatives, and reconciliation processes to reduce tensions and strengthen social cohesion.
- Enhance Community Participation
ISDP encourages active participation of communities in decision-making processes, empowering them to take ownership of development and peacebuilding efforts.
