Health
ISDP Health Department provides essential primary healthcare services to vulnerable and underserved communities across Somalia. The program focuses on improving access to quality healthcare, reducing preventable illness and deaths, and strengthening community health systems.
ISDP prioritizes maternal, newborn, and child health while supporting disease prevention, treatment, and health promotion. Through facility-based services, community outreach, and collaboration with local health authorities, ISDP works to ensure that vulnerable populations including women, children, and internally displaced persons (IDPs) can access lifesaving healthcare services.
Departmental Objectives
- Reduce Morbidity and Mortality
ISDP aims to reduce illness and preventable deaths among vulnerable populations by providing essential primary healthcare services, early diagnosis, and timely treatment, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
- Improve Maternal and Child Health
The department supports maternal and child health through antenatal care (ANC), postnatal care (PNC), safe delivery services, and child health interventions to ensure improved health outcomes for mothers and children.
- Strengthen Disease Prevention and Management
ISDP focuses on preventing and managing communicable diseases by providing diagnosis, treatment, and health education to improve community health and reduce the spread of diseases.
- Implement Vaccination and Immunization Programs
ISDP supports routine and outreach vaccination services to increase immunization coverage among children and other vulnerable populations. Through mobile and community-based health services, the department works to ensure that essential vaccines reach remote and underserved communities, helping prevent the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases.
Improving Health Services in Somalia
Access to healthcare remains a significant challenge in Somalia due to prolonged conflict, displacement, and limited health infrastructure. These challenges have left many communities without reliable access to essential health services.
ISDP is committed to addressing these gaps by delivering primary healthcare services and supporting community-based health interventions. The organization works to expand healthcare access in remote and underserved areas, strengthen health service delivery, and improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations.
Through these efforts, ISDP contributes to building healthier and more resilient communities across Somalia.
